"we used to wait..."

wanting and waiting

So, I've been thinking and praying and reading... In particular I was just reading Colossians 1, particularly v.15-29, and praying, asking the Lord what He wanted to show me.

So I was praying and just talking to the Lord and the word "wait" came to mind. It seems that the Lord wants to teach me how to wait. It isn't actually a new thing. I had just started to look up passages on "waiting" (below) when the following songs came onto my itunes. Somehow the Lord often speaks through songs to me, as I pray, and read his word. I'm not going to fully explain the context right now, but I will share some of the passages and such that I read.

"With Every Breathe" - Leigh Nash

Hallelujah from the heavens
Hallelujah in the heights above the earth
Hallelujah all His angels
Hallelujah for the last will be first
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord

Hallelujah in the morning
Hallelujah for the beauty of His scars
Hallelujah in the twilight
Hallelujah sun and moon and shining stars
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord

When the night seems so long (throw your hands to the sky)
You can sing a new song (wipe the tears from your eyes)
When you're weak, He is strong
He can heal your wounded soul
And calm the storm inside

For all your times of laughter
In every hopeful prayer
When the world weighs on your shoulders
Through sorrow and your despair
With everything, with every breath, praise the Lord
Let everything, let every breath praise the Lord
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord
Let everything, let every breath praise the Lord

When the night is so long (throw your hands to the sky)
You can sing a new song (wipe the tears from your eyes)
When you're weak, He is strong
He can heal your wounded soul
And calm the storm inside

"Imaginar" - Inma Lara

"Eres nuestro herencia
Más que suficiente
Nuestro redentor y Rey
Jesús
Muestra tus caminos
Y andaremos en tu luz
A la luz de tu verdad"
- "En Tu Luz," En Espíritu y En Verdad

So, from this, it seems that the Lord wants to remind me that HE is suficiente and that he wants me to rejoice in Him and praise Him in the midst of waiting and wanting.

Okay, here are the "wait" and "want" passages from my concordance:

"wait"

Genesis 8:10, 12 - Noe - "He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark... Then he waited another seven days and sent forth the dove, and she did not return to him anymore."

Hmmm... thinking of both Abraham and Noah and many others who had to wait MUCH longer than I... I am in good company and have some great examples of faith. I feel like the Lord wants me to learn from Abraham as he waited for a son, with no idea of how this was going to happen. He still trusted in God and God accounted his faith to him as righteousness. Hmmm... so good. As is written in Colossians 1.15-23:

"He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities -- all things were created through him and for him. And he is before all things, an in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him, if indeed you continue in the faith, stable and steadfast, not shifting from the hope of the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed in all creation under heaven, and of which I, Paul, became a minister."

It puts things into perspective a bit. Whether I understand or not, Jesus is LORD and HE has my best in mind and beyond that this is all for HIS glory, not for mine. I don't understand his timing nor his will, yet I can trust in HIM, continuing to plead my case and trusting Him to be a loving and generous Father. :-) HE IS fully sufficient and abundant in his blessings and gifts. THAT is what is true, no matter how I feel nor what I can visibly see right now. What that means in respect to my situation, I have no idea. I continue to hear the Lord say to "wait," to "taste and see that the Lord is good," to "open wide your mouth and I will fill it," and to pray and hope in His good blessings. Ahhh!!!! I want an answer and I want something tangible. Abraham waited years and years. Pase lo que pase, I will still hope in the LORD my GOD. He and He alone is the ONE I can trust in. He and HE alone is my God. :-)

Genesis 49:18 - "I wait for your salvation, O Lord."

Exodus 24:12 - "The Lord said to Moses, “Come up to me on the mountain and wait there, that I may give you the tablets of stone, with the law and the commandment, which I have written for their instruction.”"

Hmm... Moses, another good example of one who waited on the Lord and who trusted in the Lord's deliverance even when it seemed grim.

This makes me think of Hebrews 11, "Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible.

By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which he was commended as righteous, God commending him by accepting his gifts. And through his faith, though he died, he still speaks... And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him...

By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. By faith he went to live in the land of promise, as in a foreign land, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city that has foundations, whose designed and builder is God. By faith Sarah herself received power to conceive, even when she was past the age, since she considered him faithful who had promised. Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born descendants as many as the stars of heaven and as many as the innumerable grains of sand by the seashore.

These all died in faith, not having received the things promised, but having seen them and greeted them from afar, and having acknowledged that they were strangers and exiles on the earth... God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city... And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect."

:-) God is good! I want to be counted among those who hoped despite what they saw, who trusted in the ONE who is true and faithful and sovereign over all. I want HIM and HIM alone to be my hope and my peace. :-)

"God who saves" - Caedmon's Call

There is life in the blood of the Lamb who was slain
There is power, there is power in His name
There is love pouring out of the wounds that were made
Pouring out, pouring over our shame

Chorus:
So praise the God who saves
Praise the God who bled
Praise the God who was nailed to a tree
And wore our sins upon His head

There is truth in His body, raised that third day
There is joy in a stone rolled away
There is hope pouring out of the tomb where He lay
Pouring out, pouring over the grave

Chorus:
So praise the God who saves
Praise the God who bled
Praise the God who was nailed to a tree
And wore our sins upon His head

For He lives that we too might live
And He loves that we might also love
And know the glory of God above

There is life in the blood of the Lamb who was slain
There is power, there is power in His name

Chorus2x

Numbers 9:8 "And Moses said to them, “Wait, that I may hear what the Lord will command concerning you.”"

Job 14:14b "All the days of my service I would wait, till my relief should come."

"Warrior" - Caedmon's Call

The Lord is a warrior
The Lord is mighty in battle
The Lord is a warrior
The Lord of hosts is He

My Lord is a fortress
He is a Sun and a Shield
The Lord is a Deliverer
To those who put their trust in Him

He gives strength unto His people
He guards His own with His Right Hand
The Angel of the Lord camps around the ones who fear Him
And delivers them

The Lord of Hosts is He
The Lord of Hosts is He

Psalm 25:1-3, 8-10, 16-18, 20-21 "To you, O Lord, I lift up my soul. O my God, in you I trust; let me not be put to shame; let not my enemies exult over me. Indeed, none who wait for you shall be put to shame; they shall be ashamed who are wantonly treacherous. Make me to know your ways, o Lord; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the day long...

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his testimonies...

Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged; bring me out of my distresses. Consider my affliction and my trouble, and forgive all my sins...

Oh, guard my soul, and deliver me! Let me not be put to shame, for I take refuge in you. May integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you..."

Hmmm... that is really good. Oh, Lord, you are Good!!! Thank you for loving me!

"Land of the Living" - Enter the Worship Circle

One Thing I Ask Of You
this Is What I Seek
that I May Dwell In Your House
feel Your Pleasure Wash Over Me

one Thing I Ask Of You
this Is What I Need
that I May Hide In Your Hands
feel Your Presence Fall Over Me

and I Am Confident
of This One Thing
that My Eyes Will Be Blessed
when They Gaze Upon Your Beauty
and My Lips Will Be Sweet
when They Whisper Words Of Praise
and My Heart Will Be Dancing
when It Knows That You Are With Me

and I Will See Your Goodness
in The Land Of The Living

"I Boast No More" - Caedmon's Call

No More My God, I boast no more
Of all the duties I have done
I quit the hopes I held before,
To trust the merits of Thy Son

No more my God
No more my God
No more my God
I boast no more

Now, for the loss I bear his name,
What was my gain I count my loss
My former pride I call my shame
And nail my glory to His cross

Yes, and I must, I will esteem
All things but loss for Jesus' sake
O may my soul be found in Him
And of His righteousness partake
Amen, amen

The best obedience of my hands
Dares not appear before Thy throne
But faith can answer Thy demands
By pleading what my Lord has done

"Your grace is enough" Chris Tomlin

Great is Your faithfulness oh God
You wrestle with the sinner's heart
You lead us by still waters and to mercy
And nothing can keep us apart

So remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God

Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me

Great is Your love and justice God
You use the weak to lead the strong
You lead us in the song of Your salvation
And all Your people sing along

So remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God

Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me [x2]

So remember Your people
Remember Your children
Remember Your promise
Oh God

Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough
Your grace is enough for me

Your grace is enough
Heaven reaching down to us
Your grace is enough for me
God I see your grace is enough
I'm covered in your love
Your grace is enough for me
For me

Psalm 27 "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When evildoers assail me to eat up my flesh, my adversaries and foes, it is they who stumble and fall. Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war arise against me, yet I will be confident.

One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.

For he will hide me in his shelter in the day of trouble; he will conceal me under the cover of his tent; he will lift me high upon a rock. And now my head shall be lifted up above my enemies all around me, and I will offer in his tent sacrifices with shouts of joy; I will sing and make melody to the Lord.

Hear, O Lord, when I cry aloud; be gracious to me and answer me! You have said, 'Seek my face.' My heart says to you, 'Your face, Lord, do I seek.' Hide not your face from me. Turn not your servant away in anger, O you who have been my help. Cast me not off; forsake me not, O God of my salvation!...

Teach me your way, O Lord, and lead me on a level path...I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!"

"You created" - Caedmon's Call

Who is like unto the Lord our God
Who dwelleth on high, Who dwelleth on high
Who is like unto the Lord our God
Who dwelleth on high, Who dwelleth on high

You dwell in glory
The heavens are Your home
You began the story
And made Your beauty known

But You created nothing
That gives me more pleasure than You
And You won't give me something
That gives me more pleasure than You

You hung the planets
In Your image You made man
I'm overcome and broken
At the wonders of Your hand

"Our God Reigns"

40 million babies lost to Gods great orphanage,
It’s a modern day genocide and a modern day disgrace
If this is a human right then why aren’t we free?
The only freedom we have is in a man nailed to a tree.

100 million faces, staring at the sky,
Wondering if this HIV will ever pass us by.
The devil stole the rain and hope trickles down the plug,
But still my Chinese take away could pay for someone’s drugs.

Our God reigns, Our God reigns,
Forever your kingdom reigns.

The west has found a gun and it’s loaded with ‘unsure’
Nip and tuck if you have the bucks in a race to find a cure.
Psalm one hundred and thirty nine is the conscience to our selfish crime,
God didn’t screw up when he made you,
He’s a father who loves to parade you.

Yes he reigns, yes you reign, yes you reign,
For there is only one true God,
But we’ve lost the reins on this world,
Forgive us all, forgive us please,
As we fight for this broken world on our knees.

We fight for this broken world on our knees.
Only One can save us.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant, and their faces shall never be ashamed...

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justices as the noonday. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices!... For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the Lord shall inherit the land... But the meek shall inherit the land and delight themselves in abundant peace... Wait for the Lord and keep his way, and he will exalt you to inherit the land; you will look on when the wicked are cut off... The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time o trouble. The Lord helps them and delivers them; he delivers them from the wicked and saves them, because they take refuge in him."

"Nothing But The Blood" - Matt Redman

Your blood speaks a better word
Than all the empty claims I've heard upon this earth
Speaks righteousness for me
And stands in my defense
Jesus it's Your blood

[Chorus]
What can wash away our sins?
What can make us whole again?
Nothing but the blood
Nothing but the blood of Jesus
What can wash us pure as snow?
Welcomed as the friends of God
Nothing but Your blood
Nothing but Your blood King Jesus

Your cross testifies in grace
Tells of the Father's heart to make a way for us
Now boldly we approach
Not by earthly confidence
It's only Your blood

[Chorus]

We thank You for the blood
We thank You for the blood

We praise You for the blood
We praise You for the blood

Nothing but Your blood
Nothing but Your blood King Jesus

On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God. Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us..."

"Take Off My Shoes"

I’ll take off my shoes, I’m coming in,
Untie this rope, I’m staying with him,
Love of my life, I’ll live and die,
Just for the moments for my king and I.

Why did you call, why did you wait,
For someone so guilty, someone so fake.
There are no words for my beautiful song,
Now I’m in the arms of my beautiful one.

Hold me, blow all the pride from my bones,
With your fire.
Hold me, breathe on this heart made of stone,
Keep it pure.
Hold me, Saviour of heaven and earth,
King forever.
Hold me, love of my life lead me on,
Through the fire, lead me on...

I’ll take off this crown and fall at your feet,
The secret of joy are the moments we meet.
How could a man with all of your fame,
Pull me from darkness and call me by name.

So hold me today, as I carry your cross,
Into the desert to find who is lost.
Look at my hands, they’re still full of faith,
God keep them clean till we finish the race.

"Worthy, You are Worthy" Matt Redman

Worthy, You are worthy
Much more worthy than I know
I cannot imagine
Just how glorious You are
And I cannot begin to tell
How deep a love You bring
O Lord my ears have heard of You
But now my eyes have seen

You're worthy
You're worthy
You're worthy
You're worthy to be praised
Forever and a day

Glory, I give glory
To the One who saved my soul
You found me and You freed me
From the shame that was my own
And I cannot begin to tell
How merciful You've been
O Lord, my ears had heard of You
But now my eyes have seen

We'll sing an anthem of the highest praise
We'll sound an anthem of Your glorious name

"Tú has sido Fiel" - Jesús Adrián Romero

Me asombra tu amor y tu fidelidad
Que a pesar de mi, me puedas amar
Siempre has sido fiel, y a mi lado estás
Tus ojos de amor, ven mi caminar

Tal vez el sol, mañana no aparezca
Pero puedo confiar, que tú allí estarás
Si en el firmamento, se borran las estrellas
Pero a tu palabra, Fiel tu seguirás

Tu has sido Fiel///
Siempre has sido Fiel

"Majestad" - En Espíritu y En Verdad

Majestad Majestad
Tu gracia me encontró como soy,
Fue vacio y me diste valor

Majestad, Majestad
Por siempre Tu amor me cambió
Por la belleza de tu Majestad

Hmmm... The Lord is GOOD. Blessed be His name.
